Along with a good buddy, at the end of 2017 I drove to Sangkhlaburi, a small village in Thailand’s Khao Laem National Park, and very close to the Myanmar border.
From Bangkok the distance is about 340 kilometers, and the drive took around 6 hours and allowed for comfort stops. Part 1 of our trip is recorded in Sangkhlaburi #1, also found on this site.
Sangkhlaburi is famous for its Mon bridge or “Saphan Mon” and which is Thailand’s longest wooden bridge and the second longest in the world, measuring over 400 meters.
This Thai village is right on the border with Myanmar. It was interesting to see day workers cross the border to take up their jobs on the Thai side.
The map shows the location of Sangkhlaburi relative to the rest of Thailand, along with the GPS coordinates to take you to the entrance to the village, and from where you will be able to walk to the bridge and easily find the temples visited in Sangkhlaburi #1.
